🔤 Letter Round
Use the seven letters in the wheel to find every hidden word. No clock, no rush.
How to play
There are seven letters in the wheel at the center. Tap them in order, or drag your finger across them, to build a word. If the word is on the list, it opens up in the grid.
The rules
Every word has to be at least three letters long. You can use a letter only as many times as it appears in the wheel. Words you find fill in letter by letter in the grid; the ones you miss stay hidden.
When you get stuck
The Shuffle button moves the letters around the wheel. Seeing the same letters in a new order nudges your brain into trying combinations it had quietly ruled out. Building up from short words helps too: RAT, RATE, GRATE.
The long word that uses all seven letters can look impossible at first, but it usually turns up on its own once you have typed enough of the short ones. More often than not, simply reading the letters in a different order is all it takes.
Alone or with a crowd
Pulling words out of a seven-letter wheel is a calm mental workout on your own, but it moves a lot faster when you put the phone in the middle of the table and everyone shouts out whatever they spot. Racing to see who finds the long word first also makes it a good breather between louder party games.
It opens straight in your phone's browser with nothing to install, and since there is no timer, a half-finished wheel will wait patiently while you make coffee.
An example round
Take the wheel E, R, T, P, N, A, I. Most people start with the obvious three-letter words: ANT, ART, EAR, NET, PAN, PEN, PIN, RAT, TAN, TEA. Then the four-letter words come out of those pieces. PAN plus an I gives PAIN, RAT stretches to RATE, and TAPE and RAIN follow once you notice the vowels sitting next to each other. PAINT is the bridge, and adding ER to it gives the seven-letter answer, PAINTER. Seventeen words in total, and almost every player finds the long one only after PAINT clicks.
The wheel N, E, T, R, G, I, A plays out the same way. TAG, TIN and AGE feel easy, RING and GAIN come next, then TIGER, GIANT and GRAIN. The full seven-letter word is GRANITE, which hides well because nobody thinks about rocks during a word game. Other wheels in the set end on TEACHER, CHAPTER, KITCHEN and JOURNEY.
Variations to try
- Couch duel: two people, one phone. Take turns naming a word; whoever cannot add a new one within a slow count of ten gives the other a point.
- Long word bet: before anyone types, everyone writes a guess for the seven-letter word on a napkin. Closest guess picks the next game.
- Silent round: for a quieter evening, each player keeps a private list on paper, then you compare and cross off duplicates. Unique words score double.
- Theme hunt: only words about food, or only verbs, count for points. Harder than it sounds with a wheel like I, T, E, R, U, P, C.
- Long distance: both open the same wheel on your own phones during a call and race to the long word.
Mistakes that slow people down
- Staring at the wheel in its current order. Hit Shuffle early rather than after five silent minutes.
- Forgetting plurals and endings. When a wheel has an S, E or R, try them at the end of every short word you already found.
- Chasing only the long word. The small words fill the grid and give you letter positions that point straight to it.
- Using a letter twice. Double letters only work when the wheel itself shows two of them, as in A, S, S, I, D, E, E.
When it fits best
It suits the tail end of a dinner party, a waiting room, a flight delay, or a Sunday morning in bed with coffee. It is also a gentle opener for a game night because nobody feels put on the spot; the letters are the opponent, not the people at the table.
FAQ
How do you play the seven letter word wheel game?
Tap or drag across the seven letters to spell words of three letters or more. Each valid word drops into the grid. You can use each letter only as often as it appears in the wheel. The round ends when every hidden word is found, including one long word that uses all seven letters.
What is the trick to finding the seven letter word?
Build it from smaller pieces. Find the five and six letter words first, then look for common endings like ER, ING or ED you can attach. In the E, R, T, P, N, A, I wheel, PAINT plus ER gives PAINTER. Pressing Shuffle also helps your eye break out of a fixed reading order.
Is there a time limit in this word puzzle?
No. There is no clock and no penalty for walking away. You can leave a wheel half solved and come back later, which makes it a relaxed puzzle for a commute or a slow evening rather than a race against a countdown.
Can you play a word wheel game with a group?
Yes. Put one phone in the middle of the table and let everyone call out words they spot while one person types. For competition, award a point to whoever names each word first, with a bonus for the seven letter answer.
How many puzzles are there?
The set has 36 different wheels, each with its own hidden word list and long answer. Examples of the final words include PAINTER, GRANITE, TEACHER, CHAPTER and JOURNEY, so each round feels different even though the rules stay the same.
Why won't the game accept my word?
Only words on that puzzle's list count, and each must be at least three letters. Proper names, abbreviations and very obscure words are usually left out. Also check you have not used a letter more times than the wheel shows it.
